TALKS AND PANEL DISCUSSIONS
We create spaces where Detroit’s Francophone communities can speak for themselves. We give voices to local people to share their stories and perspectives on a wide range of topics. These conversations highlight the richness and diversity of our local francophonie and strengthen connections across the city.
CONFERENCES
Our conferences—held online or in person—offer opportunities to explore specific themes related to the Francophone world in greater depth. We also participate in language‑education conferences to share our experience and provide teachers with concrete ideas for connecting their classrooms to the local vibrant Francophone community.
MICHIGAN FRANCOPHONE GAMES
This annual study day gathers teachers of French at all levels to share best practices, resources, and inspiration. By fostering collaboration among educators, we strengthen the future of French language learning in Michigan.
Did you say 'Francophonie'?
La 'Francophonie' refers to the French-speaking world. There are 321 millions French speakers around the globe.
But it’s more than just language. La Francophonie includes communities where French is spoken natively, officially, or holds deep cultural and historical significance. It spans continents, identities, and lived experiences. At Bonjour Détroit, we honor this diversity and welcome everyone: fluent speakers, curious learners, heritage speakers reconnecting with their roots, and those who’ve encountered French through family, travel, or education. The Francophone world is vast—and there’s room for you in it.
Yes, you are part of it!
Bonjour Détroit is for everyone drawn to the French language and Francophone cultures—whether you speak French daily, are just starting to learn, once knew it and want to reconnect, or simply feel curious. We welcome heritage speakers, newcomers, and those rediscovering forgotten roots. If you’ve ever felt a spark of interest in French, there’s a place for you here.
Are you a parent? A teacher? A learner? An individual trying to connect with the Francophonie, we have a program for you! (And if we don’t, yet, we’ll listen to you and build it.)
